How therapy works

What to expect, and what it costs.

Anxiety about therapy usually shrinks when the unknowns do. So here is the whole thing plainly: how it begins, what a first session is really like, and exactly what it costs. No surprises, no pressure.

Four gentle steps

From first message to real work.

1

Reach out

Send a note or take the two-minute match quiz. A real person replies, usually within a day. No obligation.

2

Get matched

We suggest the therapist who fits you, by culture and concern, not just who is free first. Fit not right? We change it.

3

Your first session

Mostly getting to know each other. No couch, no diagnosis on day one, no homework you will dread.

4

The real work

Trust builds, and around session eight something usually shifts. You set the pace throughout.

What a first session is really like

You will not be asked to unpack your whole life in fifty minutes. A first session is a conversation: what brought you here, what you are hoping for, and whether this feels like a person you could trust. You can share as little or as much as you want. "I am not ready to talk about that yet" is always a complete sentence.

Think of it as a first date, but with better outcomes and no small talk about the weather.

Why session eight matters

Most people who quit therapy do it at session one or two, exactly when it feels harder, not easier, and before they can see why it is worth it. In our practice, something tends to shift around session eight, once enough trust exists for the real work to begin. If you have tried therapy once and thought "that was not for me," that is fair. One session is the trailer, not the film.

Transparent pricing

What it costs, shared openly.

Fees reflect each therapist's experience and training. We believe you should see them before you ever speak to us. If cost is a barrier, tell us; we will help you find a fit within your budget.

Questions people ask

Before you begin.

Individual sessions run from ₹750 to ₹3,350 for 50 minutes, depending on the therapist's experience and training. Couples sessions are ₹2,800 for 90 minutes, and an initial psychiatry consult is ₹1,000. Fees are shared openly before you book, with nothing hidden.
There is no fixed number. Many people notice a real shift around the eighth session, once trust is built. Some come for a specific issue over a few months; others stay longer. You are never locked in, and you set the pace.
That is completely normal, and not a sign therapy failed. The first session is mostly getting to know each other. One session is the trailer, not the film. The drop-off usually happens right before things start to shift.
Sessions are online, which is why we can work with Indians anywhere in the world. For most concerns, online therapy is as effective as in-person, and it removes the hardest part for the diaspora: finding culturally-fluent care where you live.
Life happens, and we are not rigid about it. We ask for reasonable notice so the slot can go to someone else. Your therapist will share the specifics when you book.
Mental-health coverage in India is still limited and varies by insurer. We can provide a receipt for any reimbursement you are eligible for. If cost is a barrier, tell us; we will help you find a fit within your budget.
When you're ready

The unknown is smaller than it felt.

Now that you know how it works and what it costs, the only step left is a first conversation, whenever you are ready for it.
